BID meeting with Thames Water, Surrey Highways, and Mole Valley District Council regarding Dorking West Street issues
Published On: October 7, 2024

Last week, the BID attended a key meeting with Thames Water, Surrey Highways, and Mole Valley District Council to discuss the ongoing works on West Street.

Thames Water has indicated that the expected completion date for the project is around 9th November. They are working from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week, so you should notice more activity on-site as materials continue to arrive.

Customer service representatives will be on-site every Thursday from 10am – 2pm to answer any questions. If you have concerns or inquiries, feel free to approach them.

Regarding traffic flow, North Street and Church Street will remain closed due to unsafe driving behaviour when temporary traffic measures were previously put in place. Thames Water has decided not to open these streets for safety reasons.

Additionally, it is not feasible to install crossing points on West Street at this time due to the high level of activity expected. Constantly moving the crossings would only delay the work.

Thames Water has encouraged businesses affected by the closure to submit claims for compensation, which will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. You can access the compensation form here.

They are also providing regular updates, and while an FAQs page is expected to be made available soon, it has yet to be published at the time of this writing.

For more details, or if you have any questions, please visit the on-site customer service representatives during their Thursday hours.
