Our Projects

Discover the tangible change we’re spearheading in Dorking. From urban revitalisation to community engagement, each project we undertake is a brick in the ever-evolving landscape of our beloved town. Dive in to explore the initiatives that excite you the most.

How we are driving investment in Dorking

Our strategy may overlap in areas, but each pillar has distinct projects and initiatives designed to achieve our goals of:

  • Raising the profile of Dorking
  • Increasing inward investment
  • Building pride of place
  • Rejuvenating our town and economic prospects

We have raised the profile of the Dorking brand with segmented local, national and global markets using omni channel, integrated marketing and PR campaigns. We are sharing the unique experiences of our audiences through a brand ambassador programme to build trust and a word of mouth economy with key markets.

We have generated earned media and press coverage through our creative campaigns, placemaking and events programmes. This will include developing targeted tourism campaigns and itineraries in partnership with local hotels and tourism partners. We will utilise an editorial calendar, promote evergreen content and targeted promotions on a daily basis across all social media channels.

Projects are outlined in this at a glance document an in our business plan.

Our team has already organised our Christmas Festival and will be sending out a consultation to the community in the near future. Any organisation or business seeking to participate should complete this expression of interest from Surrey Hills Enterprises.

We also welcome your participation in our planning committee, sponsoring our event or getting involved in any way. Read our 2023 results here, our Christmas 2023 Wrap Up, and thank you again for being part of our Dorking BID community.

Our Current Projects

We engage in a variety of projects across our four work streams as noted in our Business Plan. For the remainder of 2024, you’ll find our BID team working to engage, inspire and build investment in Dorking through the following activities:

Monthly Guild Talks

Big Green Week in June

We support floral containers in partnership with The Men’s Shed and Friends of Dorking. We also support the hanging baskets around the town on lampposts and properties. The flowers used are predominately petunias and trailing geraniums. All baskets have been sponsored by the Dorking BID.

Supporting our BID Businesses through training, like our Mental Health and First Aid Training – as well as our Social Media Surgeries

We recently hosted Restaurant Week to celebrate Surrey Day on 11 May. We welcome all members of the community to join our BID Committees to help us make a difference in Dorking.
