Here in Dorking we’ve a wealth of amenities, and we like to make sure our community and visitors feel looked after. So we’ve compiled a ‘good to know’ list of places and services that might be of use during your time with us. Whether you’re just visiting, or you’re new to the area, we’ve got something for you.
Parking
St Martin’s Walk is the largest car park in Dorking, with nearly 400 spaces, but there’s more – the town has a total of 11 car parks offering 1,200 parking spaces. There are spaces for disabled badge holders in all main car parks, and also some designated street spaces. Full parking details can be found here.
Cashpoints
Cashpoints can be found in the following locations in Dorking:
Waitrose Dorking, Nationwide Building Society, the Post Office, Dorking Service Centre, Rontec – Pippbrook, Oaks Convenience Store, Tesco, and Dorking Station.
Public toilets
There are free public toilets, baby changing facilities and a disabled WC (operated by a RADAR key) in the St Martin’s Walk shopping Centre, and more toilets are baby change facilities can be found at South Street opposite Junction Road. Several other local businesses allow non-customers to use their facilities too; Waitrose (RH4 2HQ), Dorking Halls (RH4 1SG), Dorking Sports Centre (RH4 1SN), and the Mole Valley District Council Offices (RH4 1SJ).
Post Office
The Post Office is at 165 High Street, Dorking RH4 1AD, Tel: 0845 722 3344. In store they offer the obvious mail services, as well as identity and licence services including passport check and send, and you can also sort out your vehicle tax and foreign currency in branch.
Dorking Library
The Dorking Library can be found at St Martin’s Walk, RH4 1UT, Tel: 0300 200 1001, and they have books, DVDs, printers and scanners, and they can help with applications for bus passes for the elderly or disabled. There is one disabled space adjacent to the library, and a large pay and display car park at the rear of St Martin’s Walk a short walk away.
Citizens Advice
Located at 3 Lyons Court, Dorking RH4 1AB, Tel: 0344 411 1444, the Dorking Citizens Advice offers a walk-in service every weekday morning 10am – 1pm, and on Wednesdays the clinic extends to 4pm. Staff are trained to advise on virtually any issue including debt, housing, benefits, immigration and taxes.
Mole Valley District Council
The Council offices are open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm, and they can help you with all manner of queries including housing, environmental health, leisure, and roads, parking and travel. Discover business grants and services through Mole Valley for Business.
Police Station
Dorking Police Station is in Pippbrook Council Offices on Reigate Road, RH4 1S, Tel: 01483 571 212. The front counter of the station is no longer open to the public, but you can still visit the nearby stations of Reigate or Epsom. A yellow phone remains at Dorking police station which can be used to reach police directly.
Hospital / A&E
