Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society care home staff wearing festive aprons and decorations

Dorking is almost ready for this year’s Christmas Festival, with one local charity joining us for the celebrations once again – and they have some exciting milestones ahead.

Run by Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society, Nower House Care Home on the edge of town, is preparing to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2026. For four decades they’ve been part of our community, offering respite and residential care for older people in a warm and supportive setting.

And soon, they’ll be expanding their work even further with the launch of a new care-at-home service, designed to help older residents stay independent while receiving the support they need. It’s a step that will give local families more choice, reassurance, and flexibility when planning care for themselves or a loved one.

You can also meet their lovely team in person at the Roll Up Dorking! Christmas Festival on Sunday 30th November, where they’ll be running a festive Tombola stall. Pop by to say hello, learn more about Nower House and their upcoming services, and of course try your luck at winning a prize (there may be a bottle or two up for grabs!).

If you’re exploring care options for the first time or simply need some guidance, Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society’s friendly team is always on hand to talk things through. Their free care phoneline (01252 979111) offers impartial advice – a chance to ask questions, get clarity and feel supported without any pressure.

As they head into their anniversary year, Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society remain committed to being part of the fabric of Dorking – supporting older people, supporting families, and supporting the community that surrounds them.
