Independent shop fronts on Dorking High Street showing new businesses
Published On: January 5, 2026

As we step into 2026, it is the perfect moment to pause and reflect on the remarkable journey Dorking has taken over the past twelve months. Our town has always been defined by its heritage and heart, but 2025 felt like a turning point—a year where confidence in our high street translated into vibrant new openings and inspiring expansions.

From fresh faces on the high street to familiar favourites moving into grander spaces, Dorking’s evolution in 2025 has been thoughtful, varied, and, above all, fiercely independent.

A Warm Welcome to the New Arrivals

Throughout the year, we’ve seen a diverse array of businesses choose Dorking as their home, bringing fresh energy and even more choice to our community.

Whether it’s the culinary delights of Heavens Kitchen, Dijo Dorking, and Monte Forte, or the community-focused spaces like Game n Play Café and Café Connect, our food and drink scene is stronger than ever. We’ve also bolstered our wellness and service offerings with the arrivals of Pilateso, Very Yoga Studio, Naturalmat, Hairro, IT Solutions, iFix Mobile & Vape, Rush, and Dorking Drycleaners.

These openings represent a significant vote of confidence in Dorking’s future as a premier destination for shopping, dining, and professional services.

Growing with the Town

It’s not just about the new arrivals; 2025 was also a year of growth for the businesses that have long been part of our fabric. Seeing local names take their next steps is a testament to the resilience and ambition of our business owners. We celebrated as Cunningham Eves, Aya Boutique, Victoria’s Little Bra Shop, Rialto Lounge, and Si Salon moved into new or expanded spaces, continuing to evolve alongside the town.

Spotlight: A Masterpiece in the Rotunda

Perhaps the most breathtaking milestone of the year was the unveiling of Teresa Weller Hair Art’s luxurious new home in The Rotunda.

The Rotunda has been a landmark in Dorking’s landscape for nearly a century, but its restoration by award-winning stylist Teresa Weller has breathed spectacular new life into the building. For Teresa—whose illustrious thirty-year career has taken her from Mayfair to the runways of London, Milan, and New York Fashion Weeks—this move represents the most meaningful achievement of her professional life.

The project was more than just a salon move; it was a labour of love and a commitment to Dorking’s heritage. Supported by her dedicated team and her husband Gary, Teresa navigated a challenging renovation to transform the historic site into a world-class sanctuary of style.

“I still can’t quite believe this beautiful building is our new home,” Teresa shared. “To have the opportunity to restore it and bring it back to life feels incredibly special.” Her stunning new salon is a shining example of how Dorking’s history can be harmoniously blended with modern luxury, creating an experience that is truly “Best of British.”

Looking Ahead to 2026

As we move into a new year, there is plenty to be optimistic about. Dorking remains a place where creativity thrives, history is respected, and the community supports its own.

Thank you for being part of this journey—for shopping local, for celebrating our heritage, and for making Dorking the extraordinary place it is. Here’s to even more success, innovation, and community spirit in 2026!
