The BID is here to make the town as good as it can be, and the levy businesses pay is what enables us to achieve that. The BID levy funds a lot of what makes Dorking special including hanging baskets, Christmas trees, Christmas lights, community events such as the recent VE Day celebration and the Christmas Festival, and multiple marketing campaigns for the town throughout the year. Therefore businesses who pay the levy directly support the community and help make Dorking continue to be a special place.
As a Voluntary BID Business you get help with publicity but that should not be the sole reason for wanting to join us, it should be a want to make our town the best it can be and to be part of our community.
If you are successful in your application to be a Voluntary Business you will benefit from the following:
- Support on social media, we share your posts to stories, you get included in round-up posts such as summer holiday guides, spotlights on certain sectors etc.
- A business update sent to your inbox every Friday to keep you up to date with all business news in the town.
- Inclusion in town wide promotion such as printed what’s on guides, our business directory etc.
- Access to training and networking sessions with other businesses, for you and any team members. This can not only help strengthen knowledge but also connections in the town.
- A voice for your business with local authorities, police and other organisations to ensure your views are heard and you are supported.
- A warm fuzzy feeling knowing that you are supporting our aims to continue making Dorking a special place.
Voluntary membership of the BID starts at £160 + VAT for a year depending on the size of your business and businesses wanting to join us are subject to board approval. We only tend to accept businesses who are within the BID area unless there are special circumstances
