Dorking Caves
Published On: June 12, 2019

There is so much to experience in Dorking, from history and culture to the surrounding countryside.

From rolling countryside to woodlands, you’ll discover everything from England’s highest point in the south east, Leith Hill to ancient healthland, waterways and scenery to take your breath away.

Be sure to check out the surrounding area, like Denbies Vineyard (still in Dorking), Albury Wine EstatesSilent Pool Distillery, and National Trust Property Polesden Lacey.

We also recommend the Deepdene Trail and the Dorking Caves. You can take a tour of the Deepdene Trail with the Dorking Museum. They are offering a trail tour on Sunday 14th July, 2pm from Dorking Golf Club clubhouse. With their knowledgeable guides, take in the grotto, woodland walks, parterre and temples, spectacular views across the Weald and exclusive access to the grade II* listed Hope family mausoleum.

Take a trip under the streets of Dorking to explore the famous 17th century caves. Discover how they were created and how they evolved over the centuries. Tours last 45 minutes and sensible shoes are needed! The Dorking Museum offers an Open Day on Saturday 27th July, tours 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm.

Finally if you love outdoor spaces that integrates sculpture and art, be sure to visit the Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden.

The Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden is a wonderful space where plants and mature trees support and frame a collection of stunning contemporary sculptures. Take your time, sit back and contemplate, and revel in the harmony of this 35-year old growing space.
