Finding ways to reduce energy bills is a hot topic, as is reducing emissions. Making sure your home is as
energy efficient as possible is easier than you think, thanks to having a Home Energy Advice Team (HEAT) on
your doorstep!

Last May a community consortium led by Zero Carbon Guildford with Circular Dorking, Energy Action Redhill
& Reigate and Surrey Climate Commission won a two-year funding bid from the Energy Saving Trust’s Energy
Redress Scheme to provide local residents with free home energy surveys, energy advice, infrared heat loss
surveys and guidance on securing grants.

The HEAT energy surveys are completely free and totally impartial. There is no cold calling or pressure to buy
expensive equipment or services. Trained Volunteer Energy Champions carry out a thermal imaging survey
and provide residents with a written report with suggestions and bespoke referrals to further support if
relevant.

Paul Street, co-founder of Circular Dorking, said: “We are delighted to play our part in directly benefiting
home-owners and renters in our local towns and villages. We’ve been carrying out Home Energy Advice Team
surveys for two years and consistently receive extremely high customer feedback scores. We’ve helped
hundreds of local residents save money and make their homes more energy efficient.”

The HEAT surveys are a great example of members of the community delivering positive action and building
resilience by creating a more circular sustainable local economy. Not only do the surveys help residents
reduce their energy bills and their carbon emissions, there can be health benefits too – HEAT reports include
advice on making homes more comfortable, reducing draughts and the risk of health impacting mould, as well
as providing help and guidance on accessing grants.

You can meet HEAT’s Energy Champions at Circular Dorking’s Home Energy Showcase (10am – 4pm Sunday
8th March, Pippbrook House, Dorking) where you’ll also find trusted suppliers and energy saving solutions
on hand to help you save money, energy and time.
