Hello Dorking share a marketing tip each week with our BID levy payers and to make it easy for you to access we’ll be adding tips to this article.
A very quick win
If you’re posting on Instagram or Facebook, don’t forget to tag us @hellodorking in your posts and stories. Please note Instagram is much easier for us to share to stories.
When you tag us, we can share your content to our stories too, helping more people discover what you’re doing and giving your posts the chance to reach even further.
It’s a quick and easy way to boost your visibility, showcase your business and connect with a wider audience.
Just a little reminder, hashtags on their own don’t notify us, so we might miss your post unless you tag us directly @hellodorking.
Tell your story
You are getting new followers all the time and they won’t all know everything about your business.
Make sure you regularly introduce yourself, your team and tell the story of your business to build that all important trust.
A great opportunity to promote your business.
We’ve been contacted by a local Surrey radio station with a lovely opportunity for Dorking businesses to get involved.
TFS Radio, an independent station with a growing audience across Surrey, is offering local businesses the chance to feature in their “60 Second Spotlight.”
Each Friday at 9:15am, they highlight a different business, giving you the opportunity to share what you do, promote your services or events, and tell people what makes your business special.
Getting involved is simple, just record a short 60-second message on your phone, and they’ll take care of the rest.
It’s a great way to build awareness and reach new audiences beyond Dorking.

Tagged in a post? Don’t ignore it.
When someone tags you or says something positive about your business online, that’s essentially free content.
Take a moment to acknowledge it and share it, it’s great social proof and shows others what people think about you.
Whatever you do, don’t ignore it… it can send the wrong message.
Make it obvious what you do
If someone walked past your shop or landed on your social media today, would they instantly understand what you sell? Our offering can change over time so it is worth taking a moment to check:
• From the outside, is it clear what your business offers?
• Does your bio quickly explain what you do and who it’s for?
• Are your images actually showing your products or services?
• Is your profile up to date with opening hours and contact details?
If people have to guess, they’ll often move on.
A few small tweaks can make a big difference in helping customers choose you.
