What Christmas Means to Me: School Art Competition

We’re inviting local school children to share their creativity and tell us “What Christmas Means to Me” through art!

How it Works: Simply create a piece of artwork, collage or 3D model on the theme “What Christmas Means to Me”, sized to an A4 sheet. This could represent presents, family time, giving, celebrations, nature or the birth of Jesus – anything that makes Christmas special to you.

Each individual school will select their top 10 pieces to display at Dorking URC during the Christmas Festival. Visitors can vote for their favourite on December 1st at the DorKingdom Fairytale Christmas Festival.

Deadline: Submit your artwork to your school by Friday, 15th November and then come to the URC on West Street, as part of the DorKingdom Christmas Fairytale Christmas Festival on Sunday 1st December to vote for your favourite artwork.

Prizes: Winners from Early Years/KS1 and KS2 will receive a festive treats hamper from Waitrose and a bundle of arts and crafts supplies.

Best Dorking Christmas Window Display

Local businesses, this one’s for you! Get creative and transform your shop windows into festive works of art. Whether you go traditional or whimsical, we can’t wait to see your holiday spirit shine!

Judge: We are delighted to announce that Claire Leigh, Trade Marketing Manager at BIRA (British Independent Retailers Association), will be judging this competition. Claire is a community leader and award-winning businesswoman who has been recognised for her dedication to the small business economy.

Prize: The winning business will receive a bottle of champagne donated by Waitrose, local promotion and a featured spotlight on Hello Dorking’s social channels.

Closing date: 25th November, the winner will be announced at the DorKingdom Fairytale Festival 1st December.
