Celebrate the ‘DorKing Coronation’ with us
Our coronation event will celebrate the best of Dorking’s heritage, culture and spirit. We are bringing together our residents, visitors, businesses, local community, and partners to take a tour of our town – encouraging everyone to celebrate: to shop, eat, stay, play and enjoy all that we have to offer. We will welcome our new monarch by celebrating his ethos of sustainability, volunteering and supporting local business. Join us in sharing, focusing on, and featuring what makes Dorking so special.

Our DorKing Coronation event celebrates Dorking’s heritage, culture and spirit with:
- Complete our free, fun Coronation window art trail and enter our prize draw to win a hamper sponsored by Waitrose
- Our open air art exhibition featuring the winners of our community artwork competition
- ‘The Big Help Out’ Volunteer Village and sustainable market across town: in front of Dorking Halls and the Sports Centre, the High Street (Barclays area), St Martin’s Walk, URC garden, and South Street Gardens and in front of Waitrose – take a tour of Dorking together.
- Kids entertainment: crafts and face painting
- Live musical acts, henna painting, and fun ‘selfies with life-sized cardboard Royals and corgis’
- Awards ceremony celebrating our sustainability champion, volunteer of the year, and high street business hero
- Taster sessions at Dorking Sports Centre
- Museum Exhibition at the Library

What is happening over the whole Coronation Weekend?
- Sat 6th May: Official Coronation Ceremony at Westminster Abbey
- Sun 7th May: Concert at Windsor Castle / Neighbours and communities are encouraged to hold ‘The Big Lunch’
- Mon 8th May: Volunteer for ‘The Big Help Out’
