Dorking Library of Things is now open for residents to borrow household items
8 October : 5:30 pm - 7:00 pmDorking LibraryDorking, Surrey, RH4 1UT

Dorking is introducing a Library of Things, a new community-led venture made possible through a collaboration between Circular Dorking and Dorking Library. This initiative aims to promote sustainability and reduce waste by offering residents the opportunity to borrow items instead of purchasing them.

What is a Library of Things?
The Library of Things allows people to borrow various items such as carpet cleaners, toolkits, pressure washers, games, and camping gear—items you may need occasionally but don’t want to buy, store, or maintain. This concept not only saves money but also reduces waste and makes efficient use of community resources.

Launch Event Details:
To mark the launch of this fantastic project as part of Green Libraries Week, you’re invited to an informal event at Dorking Library:

  • Date: Tuesday, 8th October
  • Time: 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm
  • Location: Dorking Library

Due to limited spaces, attendees are encouraged to RSVP to hello@circulardorking.org.uk.

How to Get Involved:

  • Browse the inventory and sign up for free on the Circular Dorking website.
  • Donate items in good condition to expand the collection.
  • Support financially by contributing to help maintain and grow this community resource.

The Dorking Library of Things is run by dedicated volunteers from Circular Dorking and supported by Dorking Library staff. With enough community support, the aim is to grow the inventory to hundreds of useful items.
