Dorking Christmas Festival 2021
Published On: September 7, 2021

The Consultation on Road Closures for Dorking Christmas Festival on 28th November 2021 is now open

The proposal is to Pedestrianise part of the High Street, West Street and South Street for the Dorking Christmas Festival.

Following the success of last year’s closure of part of Dorking Town Centre, Dorking Town Partnership, in partnership with Mole Valley District Council, hope to pedestrianise the centre of town including the High Street and part of West Street. To facilitate this event, the District Council can issue a Certificate under the Town Police Clauses Act.

This requires that shops, businesses and adjacent residents are consulted prior to any certificate being issued.

This year it is proposed that a partial closure of the High Street and West Street takes place, between 6am and 8pm. Please see the map below for the exact times.

The proposed road closure would affect the following areas:

  • High Street Oxfam/Children’s Trust and up to the Bulls Head pub on South Street.
  • North Street Car Park to Pump Corner.
  • West Street from Pump Corner to Station Road.
  • Entrance to Waitrose car park on Junction Road to West Street /Junction Road junction.

A plan (and times) of the areas that would be affected by the proposed road closure is shown below.

All car parks will still be accessible from various directions and other traffic will be diverted around the town.

The pedestrianised areas will be used for live entertainment and stalls and to help make it safer and more convenient for visitors attending Dorking Christmas Festival.
