Get Certified Mental Health and First Aid Training

Are you interested in receiving accredited Mental Health and/or First Aid Training or offering this service to your team? The Dorking BID is providing free mental health and first aid training to its Members. Please express your interest in this free training opportunity by emailing your BID team at info@dorkingtownpartnership.co.uk.

Courses are accredited and you will receive certification which lasts three years. We will look to offer these courses in the evenings based upon interest from our members and our instructor’s availability.  

  • Training is free for Dorking BID Members
  • There is a fee for non-BID Members

First Aid for Mental Health

Level 1 – One evening
Level 2 – Two evenings

First Aid

Basic Life Support and AED – One evening
Emergency First Aid at Work – Two evenings

You will receive certified training from the brilliant Debs Taylor

Debs has over 30 years of experience as a first aider in the workplace and as a trainer delivering a wide range of various subjects. She has a master’s degree in health sciences and started her career working in cardiac rehabilitation for the NHS.

In her role as the Deputy Managing Director of a trust, Debs is a highly experienced Health and Wellbeing Professional with extensive knowledge across all areas of the industry. She is used to working up to Board level, providing solutions to various complex operational issues within the restraints of limited resources. She is equally at ease coaching/mentoring both senior, business managers and junior team members.

Debs is passionate about promoting the health and wellbeing of individuals.

Following recovery from lifesaving spinal surgery in 2019, Debs retrained and now enjoys teaching all regulated first aid and mental health qualifications. She brings with her gentle humour and experience to ensure the training she delivers in both insightful and enjoyable.

Debs has been a being a Samaritans Volunteer for more than 20 years with one term as the Deputy Director for Volunteer Care. During her time with Samaritans, she continues to find it a privilege to visit schools, GP surgeries, as well as responding to telephone, email and face to face contacts.

Her other interests include spending time with her family and young children enjoying time outdoors exploring and having fun.

Debs is proud to live in Dorking and enjoys being an active member of the local community. She can often be seen in town with her assistance dog, Elsa, who loves to pop into the shops she knows will offer her some treats and lots of attention!
