We have been blown away by the standard of entries this year to our Hello Dorking Autumn Photography Competition. Our judges loved the variety and quality of the entries and had a really hard time choosing our winners, however, decisions has been made and we have 2 winners and several Highly Commended entries.
Category 1
These are photographers that occasionally sell their work commercially.
Winner – Stuart Burch
Stuart’s composition of this famous view from Ranmore the judges felt perfectly encapsulated the beauty of the surrounding countryside of Dorking and the Autumn season and weather. The balance of the strong autumn colour in the foreground with the softening of the undulating landscape through the mist made this image a unanimous favourite with the judges.
Highly Commended – Bogdan Schiteanu
This photo invites you to go on a walk through the Redlands Woods. The judges loved the dappled light of Autumn and the balance of different textures in this composition.
Highly Commended – Jayne Kemp
The judges loved how this incorporated Dorking’s most famous landmark, the St Martin’s Church spire, with the Autumn colours of both the tree and the sky.
Highly Commended – Richard Knapp
Another beautifully atmospheric shot that combines both lines and texture for a classic Autumn view in Dorking.
Category 2
These are all entries from photographers who do not sell any images commercially.
Winner – Jane Nelson
This composition reminded the judges of a renaissance or Lowry painting where there is just so much “life” going on in the shot. The Brockham bonfire is an iconic Dorking event and it seems the aftermath can bring the community together just as much as the main event.
Highly Commended – Adam Gorecki
The combination of an iconic Dorking landmark (the Stepping Stones), a furry friend and some gorgeous autumn colour and reflections made this a popular choice with our judges.
Highly Commended – Fiona Humphrey
The judges loved the technique used to get this image and the explosion of colour it brings.
Highly Commended – Steven Moulder
The iconic Cotmandene washing line with an atmospheric sky in the background, gives this shot a cinematic quality the judges loved.
Highly Commended – Peter Harrison
The judges loved the lines, vibrant colour and texture of this composition taken at Denbies. See if you can spot the pigeon who posed beautifully for the photographer.
