Participants who successfully complete their trail sheet by finding all the items can submit their entries to be part of the prize draw of cinema tickets generously donated by Dorking Halls. \nEvent Details: \n\nDates: 13th December 2024 – 5th January 2025\nLocation: Central Dorking\, town centre\nActivity: Participants will use a trail sheet to find various Christmas-themed items\, based on the “Twelve Days of Christmas\,” displayed in the windows of participating local businesses. DESCRIPTION:  \nDorking is looking forward to a fantastic celebration on Saturday 10th May to commemorate VE Day 80 and Surrey Day. \nJoin us in the town centre from 12 noon – 4pm for… \nSt Martin’s Walk \n\nPolka Dots – 1940’s singing duo\nA Flashmob from First Dance Studios and a 1940’s dance lesson\nFarncombe Jazz Choir\nA stand showcasing 1940’s fashion\n\nSt Martin’s Walk Car Park \n\nCome and explore Vintage Vehicles\n\nDowns Solicitors Heritage Gardens \n\nCome and enjoy afternoon tea treats from local cafes in this tranquil setting\nLive music with Mandy Dineley Penny during the afternoon\n\nOld King’s Courtyard \n\nEnjoy afternoon tea treats from Harts at the Courtyard with live music from Zara Britain during the afternoon\n\nDorking Museum \n\nExplore Dorking Museum as part of our Celebration of VE Day 80 and Surrey Day. There will be a family activity for all to take part in\, children will be able to dress up in our WW2 costumes and handle artefacts from WW2.  There will also be a special window display and a Refugee Exhibition with a focus on World War 2.\nThe family activity will run from 1000 – 1530 and children will be able to create commemorative flags\, bunting\, medals and poppies.  All materials will be provided free.  This activity is in collaboration with the Arts Society Dorking.\n\nUnited Reformed Church\, West Street \n\nJoin in creating a ‘Dove of Peace’ display in the church garden.\nDance Displays from Lucy’s Dance Project and Laird Academy.\nCharity Cream teas available\n\nPlus throughout the town \n\nRampant Roosters Morris Dancers\nVE Day commemorative trail\nDecorations\nAppearances from Dorkers our town mascot\nOur local cafes serving takeaway afternoon tea treats to enjoy at any of the above Street Party Venues\n\nAnd more surprises to come! \nFind out more about VE Day celebrations and history here \nThis event is kindly supported by Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society Limited\, who operate Nower House Care Home in the heart of Dorking.
