The Merchant Adventurers are seeking information about Mayflower Descendants.
16th September 2020 will be the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower to the New World.
As many are aware, Dorking has historical links to this event through William Mullins, his wife Alice, daughter Priscilla, son Joseph and Peter Browne who all lived in Dorking prior to leaving on the ship.
We are a local group who are researching these Merchant Adventurers and would like to hear from anyone who have been able to trace their family in Dorking back to 1620.
Much of the land appears to have been owned by Sir A. Browne and Sir George Sondes.
Amongst the names of people residing in the centre of Dorking in 1649 were Edward Goodwin, John Wood, George Steere, Samuel Cossens, Christopher Roffie, William Henn, Mary Charman, Michael Jeale, Thomas Ede, Abraham Huggett, Sam Dendy and Morgan Sherlock, although there were many more.
